Berry Basket Workshop

Join Weave Only A Trace artist-makers, Lesley Butler and Sophie Francis, on this workshop which is a great introduction to basketry. Learn how to make this colourful, traditional stake and strand basket perfect for berry collecting or storing knick-knacks.

You will learn how to make a base, staking up, 3 rod wale weaving, trac border, how to insert a handle.

Suitable for beginners and improvers, all materials and tools provided. 

Please note willow weaving requires some manual dexterity.

This workshop is part of Weave Only A Trace: An exhibition of basketry, wood and natural fibres. All workshops are suitable for beginners, and are designed to introduce visitors to some of the materials and techniques used by our artists in the exhibition. Workshops will be taught by one of our exhibiting artist-makers, and you'll get to take home whatever you make during the workshop.
