Rush Mat Workshop

Make a statement mat for the table from beautiful English rush with Basketmaker, Phi Evans. 

English rush is a soft and pliable plant fibre; so its ideal if you want to weave but think that willow might not be for you. No weaving experience needed – everyone can do it!  All materials and tools provided.

This workshop is part of Weave Only A Trace: An exhibition of basketry, wood and natural fibres. All workshops are suitable for beginners, and are designed to introduce visitors to some of the materials and techniques used by our artists in the exhibition. Workshops will be taught by one of our exhibiting artist-makers, and you'll get to take home whatever you make during the workshop.
