About the event
Perhaps you'd like to start growing some willow yourself, or are just interested in willow as a plant for wildlife and craft. Daisy and SGCT volunteers will be on hand to give you a tour of the Ironbridge Community Willow Bed, and tell you all about different willow varieties, living willow structures, willow binders for hedgelaying, and how willow is harvested and prepared for basketry. There will be willow cuttings available for sale - proceeds from which will support the conservation and education work of the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust.
The nearest car park available is at Coalbrookdale Community Centre - a ten minute walk to the site. Please see the map attached for directions. Please note that the site has uneven terrain, and visitors should wear suitable walking shoes.
This workshop is part of Weave Only A Trace: An exhibition of basketry, wood and natural fibres.
